Giving World

Summary:
Designed to be similar to freecycle or craigslist only more intuitive and centralized, the Giving World is set to revolutionize the gift economy. Not only can people exchange goods they can also offer up services they wish to gift. Freecycle is hosted on yahoo groups which poses several different fundamental flaws including the fact that all the content posted within those groups is actually Yahoo's property. Craigslist is good for many things however their free section is very limited and not very well organized and there are very few places to offer up free services. The Giving World will fill this gap. Concept by Arthur Brock and Eric Harris-Braun.

This software will be in beta release shortly. The Online tools will be for the larger group of fishermen's caretakers to notice trends, help fishermen manage their quotas and report information to the government. The online tools will also be used by the fishermen to track their data, by the government agencies who are interested in fish catching data collection and by the dealers who buy and sell the fish. The Online tools are still in development and the site has not officially been launched.
